1949 General Gregorio del Pilar

Gregorio  del Pilar (1875-1899) was one of the youngest generals in the Philippine revolutionary Forces. He was a general in the Philippine Revolution and Philippine-American war. Pilar was killed in action at the Battle of Tirad Pass where he was fighting against “Texas Regiment” and Infantry Regiment.  (The Philippine Military Academy provides this biography of del Pilar on its website.)

The Bureau of Posts issued a set of two stamps honouring General del Pilar on the 50th anniversary of his death, December 2, 1949.
